My Story…I LOVE what I do!
I wanted to share with you about how I got to where I am today, loving what I do! I’ve spent most of my career in the corporate world, as I was blessed to have a great career with the world’s largest airline and a major oil company. Throughout my career, I’ve always tried to make a difference in the positions that I held. Many of my years in the corporate space evolved around the areas of Human Resources, Training and Recruiting, as well as Workforce and Supplier Diversity. I knew I always wanted to branch out on my own, but just wasn’t sure exactly when, where and what.
I was very fortunate to be recruited by a major oil company in 2012 and I moved to Bartlesville, OK…..a great place to live! I reported to an amazing Chief Procurement Officer that totally got it when it came to creating a high performing team based on the strengths of each team member. He was an awesome mentor and leader that truly respected each and every individual. He selected me to roll out a Strengths Based Leadership program, so I spent a great deal of time at Gallup® in Omaha, Nebraska attending numerous “Train the Trainer” courses and eventually took the exam to become a certified Gallup® Strengths Coach. He believed in me and saw the passion in my eyes. He always shared with me about the “3 circles”. Let me explain: If you draw 3 circles: the first one is the circle that exemplifies what you are really good at doing; the second one illustrates what really adds value to corporations, teams and individuals; the third circle is what you love doing! AND, where you need to be is where those three circles intersect – the sweet spot: you are great at doing it, it adds value and you LOVE doing it! Let me illustrate:
So, after I launched the Strengths Based Leadership initiative, I really got the bug to do more of this! I saw what a positive impact it made on teams and individuals because it focuses on what’s right with people. I started moving closer to making my dream and passion a reality. I left the oil company and moved back to Dallas/Fort Worth. For the past year, I chose to help out a non-profit that advocates for minority business enterprises….this gave me a chance to get settled back into the DFW life and also make a difference in the Supplier Diversity Community, which was important to me. After a year as Director at the non-profit, I decided to leave and launch my consulting practice focused on team Strengths training and coaching. I have also decided to offer Supplier Diversity consulting and Diversity & Inclusion training, as that is such an important area that I am very passionate about. So, that’s my story…I LOVE what I do and I’m excited about what the future holds for ieConsulting! It’s going to be great!
